A very commonly used editor on Linux, especially for beginners, is the nano command in Linux. It is somewhat similar to Windows Notepad, but for the Linux terminal.

Nano is a small and friendly editor. It does not have a command mode. Everything is as simple as editing text in Windows Notepad.

To execute nano:

$ nano arquivo

Nano commands are quite simple, and can be triggered with the Control key plus the corresponding letter.
