Linux pr Command: Format Text Files for Print with Header
Linuxcommands
The pr command in Linux (printing) formats a text file for paged output with defined header, margins, and width. It is useful for formatting raw texts for printing. The header consists of date, time, file name, and page number.
Frequently used options are:
- -d: Specifies double spacing;
- -l number: Specifies the number of characters in the page width. The default is 66 characters;
- -o number: Specifies the number of spaces in the left margin.
Example:
$ pr –l 75 –o 5 arquivo.txt
