The paste command in Linux (paste) is used to concatenate the lines of various files into vertical columns.

The frequently used options are:

  • -d's': Separates columns with the s symbol in single quotes;
  • -s: concatenates all the content of a file with one line per file.

Example:
Assume that file1 has the following content:

lmmoraesrrodriguesaduarte

And file2 has the following content:

provedor.com.brprovedor2.com.brprovedor3.com.br

When we use the paste command, the result will be the following:

$ paste –d’@’ arquivo1 [email protected]@[email protected]
