diff Command in Linux: Compare Files and Show Differences
Linuxcommands
The diff command in Linux is used to show the difference between the contents of one file and another. It is very useful, for example, for comparing configuration files.
Its use is quite simple, just indicate which files to compare:
$ diff LivroSubcapituloList2.php LivroSubcapituloList.php 30c30< $capituloid = new TCombo('capitulo');---> $capituloid = new TCombo('capituloid');
When comparing these files, there is a difference on line 30 of both.
This command can be useful for quick checks in source code, JSON, XML files, etc.
Sometimes it is necessary to sort the files before comparing them, using the sort command.
