How Long Is a Linux Certification Valid?
Find out how long exams are valid before deciding which one to take
It depends on the certification. Some last forever. Others need to be retaken over time.
| Exam | Validity |
| CompTIA Linux+XK0-004 | Forever :-) |
| LPIC-1 (101/102) | 5 years (*) |
| LPIC-2 | 5 years (*) |
| LPIC-3 | 5 years |
| Linux Foundation Certified SysAdmin (LFCS) | 3 years |
| Linux Foundation Certified Engineer (LFCE) | 3 years |
(*) the LPI certification becomes deactivated after 5 years, which only means it can no longer be used as a prerequisite to progress to later exams. However, in reality, it never actually expires, since the knowledge it certified remains valid for the exam version taken.
